ResearchBuzz! -- Search engine news and information.: "CNN Offers New News Alert Service

CNET is reporting ( http://news.com.com/2110-1025_3-5067839.html ) that CNN has added a news alert service. CNN already had a breaking news service, but this new one lets you choose news by keyword.

The new service is available at http://www.cnn.com/youralerts/ . You'll need to be a CNN
member to get the alerts. Registration for the news alerts is pretty extensive and includes address, month and year of birth, and gender. Once you've registered and confirmed your registration, you'll have the opportunity to put together alerts.

Alert setup consists of three boxes. The first specifies keywords that must be included in the article. The second specifies keywords which must not appear in the article (this is optional.) The third box allows you to name the alert. Underneath that you'll have the opportunity to edit your alert. Alerts come delivered in HTML by default. You can change that to text if you like. You can also specify delivery time (weekly, daily, or immediately) and site (currently only CNN and CNN Money are available.) "
